Concurred trends in the management of institutions of higher education are indicative of changes in many directions. Those changes include increased delegation of authority by the board of control to the president and his administrative offices and the faculty; sharper delineation by the governing board of what responsibilities it will retain to itself, and greater attention to tits manner of working, markedly increased emphasis on identifying objectives and planning for the near and longer terms; strengthening the staff; greater concern for the economics of institutional operations.
