Introduction -- Part I. Observation and participation -- Part II. Internship (On/Off Campus teaching)
This book is both a text and a guide for student teaching. It should serve as a source of current ideas and information and as a tool for applying principles learned to the actual school setting. The basic concepts herein are in keeping with current educational thinking. The purpose of this guidebook is to look into all the major concerns of the prospective teacher, to assure her of adequate and fruitful exposure to the essentials of student teaching with the minimum guidance. Each topic will help the student teacher take well-defined steps in the various classroom activities. It is the belief of the writers that students gain most from observation and teaching when their attention is directed toward a few related items at a time. When some activities call for an evaluation of lessons observed by the student teacher, it should in no way be considered a personal criticism of the teacher. This is simply to induce the student teacher to think critically and consider other methods or techniques that could be used under the situation.
