520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Personnel/human resource management has often been characterized as a set of activities that are established as reactions to events within and outside the organization. While this well-known "fire fighting" stereotype has some basis in fact, it is increasingly becoming an anachronism. Our teaching, research, and consulting experiences have convinced us that the quality of personnel/human resource management makes a substantial difference in an organization's success. Our view is proactive rather than reactive and in this book we seek to reflect and further contribute to this viewpoint.
