Educating gifted and talented students in regular classroom settings is & controversial topic. There are those who firmly believe this placement to be totally inappropriate. They hold the position that the gifted should be in special settings with other students like themselves and have resources available that go beyond those typically found in the regular classroom. Although there is some defense for this position, it is weakened by the fact that most gifted students are in regular classroom settings at least part of their school day. Many are there for the majority of their time. Gifted Students in Regular Classrooms has been written in order to bring appropriate educational experiences to gifted students where they are--in regular classroom settings.
