520 _aThe Heritage Conservation Society (HCS) and the Urban Partnerships Foundation have convened five conferences entitled "Philippine Towns and Cities: Reflections of the Past Lessons for the Future"; the first one was held in Manila in 2000 and the most recent, this year in Malolos, the "Renaissance City" of Bulacan province. The main objective of the T and C conferences is to make Filipinos from all walks of life aware of the importance of Heritage Conservation, as a crucial factor for the strengthening of our national identity. These conferences are designed to present the origins and denouement of Philippine towns and cities in order to show how built heritage resources have been successfully integrated with modern urban planning and inner city rehabilitation.
