Almost any biography of the late President Ramon Magsaysay would be a welcome contribution to the historiography of our young Republic. When such a life is written by a biographer who has won singular pre-eminence in this genre, and makes its appearance within the first year following the death of its famous subject, the contribution becomes thrice welcome.
