An increased interest in in-service education for teachers is now being exhibited by all committed experts and authorities who fear a falling-off of teachers. In the recent past there has been a falling-off in the quality of teachers of mathematics and science. This situation could only be met apparently by rewarding some teachers more than other, by cosseting the highly qualified graduate entrant and by strengthening the less well-qualified ones who are doing their best in challenging conditions. This last process come within the ambit of in-service education.
