It is necessary to recognize the equal position of spouses as individuals within marriage and to recognize marriage as a form of partnership. In my experience as a family law lawyer, this "equal position" just does not exist. Women have less money than men; women have different employment and business experience than men; women are viewed as having different needs than men.
