N2  - This is an economic theory book. It describes theory as a way of looking at events that permits an economist to predict some of those events before they happen. Thus theory is a way of looking at reality but it is not a description of reality. It is an abstract, simple, and sometimes unrealistic picture of reality. Its simplicity and logical elegance give it a charm of its own. I am convinced that undergraduate students can see and appreciate that charm. They need only see theory for what it is; a carefully designed, insidiously clever, pair of glasses through which economists look at a complex, confusing world
