The greatest military invasion in history took place on June 6, 1944. On its twentieth anniversary, General Eisenhower was describing this amphibious operation carried out under his command. He recalled, "Our men were tied down on the beach. There was confusion, there was con-gestion. Then someone said, 'Let's get out of here,' and the breakthrough into France was on." That someone supplied a timely bit of effective speaking. Those five words triggered the action that turned the tide of battle. That enterprising someone recognized the need, accepted the opportunity to speak, and spoke.
