Summary: The book Essentials of Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing is divided into four units. First unit discusses the overview of neuronursing and its new challenges, provides review of anatomy and physiology of nervous system. Under this unit, nurѕеђ́ةs role in neurological examination, in various diagnostic procedures carried out in neurological conditions and in interventional neuroradiology has been discussed. The chapters in this unit help nurses to identify various alarming signs of different neurological condition that need immediate action. Second unit of the book explains neurological conditions that occur as a result of different diseases. Explanation of such conditions as well as management of patients with unconsciousness, urinary incontinence and aphasia has been discussed in this unit. Third unit covers almost all neurological conditions with anon with their definition, etiology, signs and symptoms, investigations and diagnostic procedures, management in general and nursing management. The last unit describes the common drugs used in neurosurgical conditions, nurѕеѕђ́ة role in rehabilitating patients, and summary of common problems identified by nurses in those conditions, nursing diagnosis and the nursing intervention. In addition the role of nurse in the prevention of the neurological and neurosurgical conditions is also discussed.
