Although this book is based on the editions published in 1935 and 1941, most of the previous experiments that have been retained are considerably revised. For example, improved procedures are given for the preparation of an alkene (cyclohexene), of mandelic acid, nitrobenzene, aniline, anthraquinon, p-chlorotulene, and acetylsalicylic acid.
