The success of foundations of college chemistry through five editions has been gratifying, for it tells me that the book has been continuously useful and effective for both students and teachers. The primary purpose of this edition, like its predecessors, is to instruct students in the basic concepts of chemistry so they will be qualified to enter courses in general college chemistry.
