Summary: Simulated experiences provide the student with the opportunity to be involved in patient care activities they may otherwise not experience in actual clinical settings. These patient situations may be low frequency, high impact events they may otherwise not experience. Simulation offers an avenue to assess clinical judgment and critical thinking without jeopardizing patient safety. A simulated experience allows students to critically analyze their own actions (or failure to act), reflect on their own skill sets and clinical reasoning, and critique the clinical decisions of others.
