Summary: This textbook focuses on the suggested content and delivery of a three-unit course on Teaching Profession, which is a mandated professional education course for pedagogical content knowledge of three teacher education programs of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in its Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs) – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd), Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) – defined in its memorandum no. 74 to 76, series of 2017. The three-unit course covered by this textbook deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the context of national and global teachers’ standards and educational philosophies. It includes professional ethics, core values, awareness of professional rights, privileges, and responsibilities, as well as the teachers’ roles in the society as a transformative agent of change. It provides learning opportunities for students that allow them to (a) meet the program outcomes and standards of a beginning teacher, (b) develop their 21st century skills, and (c) be healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
