Summary: Teaching Profession: Passion and Mission was written to help student teachers understand and appreciate the teaching profession as a lifetime personal commitment to make a difference in the lives of all learners. This book will help student teachers understand that teachin is a dynamic field influenced by several factors such as teachers, students, schools, laws, other disciplines and academic fields, and the society. It also presents the idea that teachers are professionals who are dedicated to respond to the different needs, demands, and challenges of the learners and the society. The first part of this book discusses the personal and professional life of teachers. It is followed by a discussion on the professional competencies that a teacher should possess. The third part talks about the national and global challenges that teachers need to address, and the last part talks about the legal bases of the teaching profession. All the activities in this book are designed to develop the critical thinking of the student teachers. Guided by the OBE transformational approach, this book aims to develop student teachers who are servant leaders in the field of education.
