The Codigo de Procedimiento was first published in Spanish in 1914 with a supplement being issued a few months later.

This setback made Recto determined to master the subject in which he had failed, and prepare himself for the next examination, he studied the Code of Civil Procedure (Act No. 190, [1901], patterned after American law) so well that he wrote the first two-volume commentary on the Law on Civil Procedure from the notes that he had made during this period.
