Part I. Understanding the child -- Part II. Case illustrations -- Part III. Conclusion.
If it were possible to rear children properly from birth on, if parents were faultless and the atmosphere in which children grew up were completely harmonious, then extreme misbehavior, violation of order, and maladjustment would probably not occur. But since these favorable conditions rarely exist, children cause an infinite variety of difficulties.
