Summary: The medium term Philippines Development Plan (MTPDP) 1987-1992 was formulated during the time the country was recovering from the social, political and economic damages left by then previous regime. The country was then experiencing contracted economic growth aggravated by an all-time high inflation, surging unemployment and interest rates, and macroeconomic imbalances, which resulted from economy's structural weakness as well as errors in economic management and abuse of power by the previous administration.
