520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The popularity of cellular mobile service notably mobile broadband data has resulted in the higher penetration rate of cellular mobile phone compared to fixed line telephones. Moreover, today’s consumer usage patterns clearly show that most of voice, SMS, and mobile broadband data services is coming from indoor usage. This particular trend is expected to further continue what with the availability of low-cost smart phones. This particular usage trend, coupled with the increasing number of high-rise residential buildings built in accordance to the updated National Building Code poses a unique challenge to all cellular mobile operators – providing indoor coverage and addressing signal dominance issues and pilot code pollution at the higher floors of these high-rise residential buildings. To address this challenge, an in-building solution is required to be provided by cellular mobile operators. There are several solutions for improving and/or providing indoor coverage the most popular of which is known as a DAS or Distributed Antenna System. This technical standard is provided as a guide for the deployment of Distributed Antenna Systems as a means for providing and/or improving indoor coverage of digital cellular service.
