520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. During the past decade, many dramatic changes have taken place in the field of the education of gifted children. Much of the material contained in this book was non-existent five years ago. Many of these advances are of pertinent interest to the teacher or specialist working directly with gifted children. Much of the previous work on the gifted child concentrated on problems which were more of interest to the administrator. Questions such as, "Shall we support acceleration?" hold little interest for the teacher. While these questions are accorded space in this text, they are considered secondary to the discussion of curriculum and pedagogy from the teacher's standpoint. Thus many topics such as advanced placement programs, or development of special talents in areas such as music or art, are not included here. These topics, while interesting, are not generally the responsibility of the teacher working with gifted children.
