520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The study of Sociology and Anthropology has become indispensable to every college student. These two disciplines play a key role in modern intellectual culture and they occupy a central place within the social sciences. These two disciplines, duly integrated, have become part of the social science orientation among beginning college students in the Philippines. The subject described as Sociology and Anthropology has become a general education requirement for students in the collegiate level. This requirement has been premised on the fact that no man is an island. No man can ever stand alone. Wherever the individual is, he or she is always a part of a group. He/she is born into a group, grows up in groups, learns many things from various groups to which he/she belongs. It is the importance of studying the human person and his/her group that prompted the writing of the original, as well as this revised and updated volume. It is aimed at providing the student with clear understanding of the study of people living in interdependence and of the culture they formed. This volume intentionally provides a flashback on the origin of man and how he developed his culture along the history of civilization. This revised edition has been organized around a number of basic themes, so organized as to facilitate clearer understanding of the two disciplines among college students. The chapters are grouped according to: (1) Foundation in the Study of Sociology and Anthropology (which aims to serve as an introduction or background in the study of the two disciplines); (2) The Individual in Society; (3) The Human Society and Communities; (4) Social Institutions; and (5) The Transformation of Society.
